If you haven’t mailed in your Local Station Board Ballot yet, or you have just received a replacement ballot, it may be too late to mail now and for them to  arrive at the Election Services Company in New York by December 11th, the ballot deadline.
That is a judgment you must make.

The alternative we offer is an UNOFFICIAL ballot collection party, to collect and package ballots for overnight express delivery, outside of KPFA, this Sunday night, December 9th, between 7pm and midnight. This will insure that the ballots, mailed before 2:00 on Monday, will arrive at Election Services Company in New York on December 11th.

You can bring your ballot to the station Sunday evening, we’ll be outside, in front of the station, with USPS express mail boxes, for you to place your ballot in.

We’ll be mailing them via USPS Overnight Express Mail to ensure that they will arrive in Ronkonkoma, NY on Tuesday, the 11th.

Alternatively, you could mail your own ballot by Overnight Express Mail on Monday for $18.95.

We ask and encourage people to contribute to support the cost of this
effort.

We also invite people to:

1. volunteer to help us on Sunday night,
2. to observe the ballot collection process,  and
3. to go with us to the Post Office to deliver the boxes.

Please help spread the word about this ballot collection party and forward this email as widely as possible.

Thank you all for supporting KPFA and our democratic station board election process.

  1. How can I mail the ballot in with overnight delivery if there is only a post office box number? I can’t check with USPS now because of the hour, but my understanding is that you can’t ship express or overnight to a post office box. Perhaps I’m wrong. Thanks.

    • You can mail your ballot by 5 pm today from the post office using overnight express mail. The post office delivers to P.O. Boxes. I understand that it costs about $18.

    • You can still mail your ballot. If you received a recent replacement ballot, your ballot will be counted if it is received by December 18th, 2012. If you requested one after November 27 and have not yet received it, as long as you receive it and get it to the east coast PO box by December 18th, it will count for this LSB election.

Some of us are hoping others who mailed ballots in what they thought was plenty of time will also receive an extension.
